Baya Weaver

These species inhabit grasslands, cultivated areas, scrubs and secondary forests which are usually near fresh and brackish waters. They are widespread and abundant within their distribution area but are prone to local seasonal movements. These birds are about 15cm in length. These birds have a stout conical bill and a very short square tail. Breeding males have a bright yellow crown, dark brown mask and a blackish brown bill. The upper parts are dark brown streaked with yellow, with a yellow breast and cream buff below.
